208L CONTAINERS (TAS) + DAMN WILLIAMS + DENIM OWL + EV MORRIS
John Curtin Hotel (Carlton, VIC)
Saturday, 25 April 2026 2:00 pm
Tasmania's 208L Containers are a pop band that listened to too much metal as kids, telling stories about everything from climate-change denying premiers to putting your laundry on AirBnB. The absurdist rockers straddling the line between post-punk and pub rock are travelling up to the mainland for the first time in support of their latest album Soft Monstrous Masses! their fourth release on Rough Skies Records.
Playing with them are Naarm's Damn Williams, who sing stories of sailors, fathers, and Indian entrepreneurs, exploring abstract complexities of Australian working-class nostalgia. The indie Australiana art-rockers channel the bravado and theatricality of Scott Walker and ’70s Bowie, through the raw immediacy of ’90s alt-rock, creating a dissonant sonic landscape sure to captivate.
Denim Owl is the long term music project of Janita Foley who is known for dispensing delicate, pensive, experimental dream pop. The project has recently morphed into a five-piece form and the owl band are ready to flaunt their newly minted album. Janita and musical associates Joe Foley, Irit Rozenfeld, Jill Farrar and Stephanie Hooke aim to play their handmade tunes scuffed up by unapologetically long instrumental wig-outs and will make no exception for this occasion.
Screen Composer, sound designer, relational music trans-masculine tv watcher and legend of local art and music Ev Morris takes the stage to produce real-time improvisational compositions and croon some exceptional tunes. This will be a one of a kind performance not to miss.
